Voodoo Doughnuts

Voodoo Doughnuts is our city's coolest landmark! According to the Los Angeles Times it's actually become an international tourist attraction. Woah. Not only does it offer a vast array of eccentric doughnuts, it also offers wedding services. No, that's not a typo. If you're overcome with unexplainable joy while purchasing a doughnut and come to the sudden realization that you love the person next to you, ask to get hitched. Although I'm sure there's some kind of fee involved; because, as we all know, there's no such thing as a free lunch.

There are approximately 100 varieties of doughnuts in total.
Voodoo has been featured on No Reservations, Man vs. Food, Globe Trekker, and in 2008 is was the final destination for the season finale of the 13th season of The Amazing Race. Not bad Portland, not bad.

As cool as all this success is, it's a total pain in the rear when it comes to getting one of these nuggets of gold. The lines can be hilariously long; averaging 45 minutes to an hour during peak hours. Imagine waiting in line for an hour for a doughnut. It's all for bragging rights at this point. But Voodoo is such a Portland doughnut shop, it's the very essence of weird. Everything from the quarter glued to the cement outside the store to the workers portray the quirkiness of the Portland spirit.

If you plan on visiting bring cash and patience. It's worth it.

Don't fall for the quarter glued to the ground!

We got four doughnuts; it ran us about $7 something. It's reasonable, they're fun doughnuts.
